I’m an experienced commercial, tourism & editorial photographer, operating my business from Ballarat since mid 2007.
My Commercial & Stock Photography shows life and explains ideas – illustrating & educating.
Contemporary Photography combines equipment, composition, lighting and imagination, but that’s only half the story.
Collaboration with the client is critical in expressing their vision, combined with an understanding of digital photography/editing, colour management and efficient file delivery – providing a comprehensive service. I’ve worked with many varied businesses, locations & situations and can offer tailored packages to suit your budget.
Based in Ballarat, Victoria, west of Melbourne I work in this region but available to work around Australia and internationally.
Who am I…
I grew up in Ballarat, playing Aussie rules football through muddy winters and cricket in blazing summers, before graduating as a food scientist and working in that industry for ten years while taking various part-time courses in photography and printing techniques.
Finally chucking in the lab coat I traveled through Europe, cycled through France before living in Provence for a year, then Scotland, all the while capturing the surrounds. Then to New Zealand for seven years, running a Lodge in Russell, Bay of Islands while documenting life and culture of the small village before plunging into digital photography full-time and opening the Bay of Islands Image Gallery and exhibited in several group shows.
Returning to Ballarat in 2007 I continued my commercial work, including freelance photojournalism for The Ballarat Courier. Over the past few years I’ve been exploring the greater region for my Abandoned Places series.
I’m currently a Board Member of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale and have exhibited in the 2009, 2011 and 2013 events, with my work featuring in the January issue of BETA – Developments in Photography
We’ve just returned from a trip around Australia which is detailed on my blog.
On the trip I became a contributor to an new all Australian stock photo library at following link www.austockphoto.com.au
